Like every 'journaller', I collect pictures I find in leaflets, magazines and newspapers. That  does not stop when I'm on holiday. On the contrary, foreign publications always offer new possibilities.  This year I pondered about a new way to use them in my journal.

Mijn vakantiethema was "verhalen".

The theme I had chosen for my creative holidaywork was 'stories'.(It works well for me to pick a theme when going on holiday). So I got the idea to try and connect two pictures by making up a context  showing what the connection between the two was. That worked out really well and was great fun to do! Especially if I did not think of a story before glueing the pics into my journal, but had to make the connection when they were already there!

Just trust your imagination and try: grab two pictures that appeal to you and glue them onto a background that you made beforehand. (TIP: use watercolours or ink in a spraybottle for a nice cloudy effect). Then concoct a story in which the two pictures come together, decorate your page with your text and you're done!

The text I added reads:   It was too much... so much beauty, such an amount of slender colourful   lightfootedness  passing hipswinging along the fence of his field...The horse had to sit down  for a minute...

And here the added text is: : RATHER.. oh yes, much rather would the circusdirector's daughter have become a rope-dancer, but it was not allowed...

It goes without saying that pictures that seem to have no connection at all are the most fun to work with!
